Maoists oppose road construction, torch vehicles in Odisha

Bhawanipatna: In a bid to disrupt road construction process in Lanjigarh area in Kalahandi district, a group of armed Maoists torched several vehicles and equipment on Tuesday late night. The Ultras also left posters on the spot following the attack.

Around 50 members of outlawed CPI Maoist group barged into the camp of the contractor, where the labourers were sleeping in Jamkana village under Lanjigarh block and asked them to leave the area at the earliest. Later, the group of Maoists set fire to four tractors, a JCB machine, and a mixture machine engaged in the road work.

In the posters, the ultras opposed the road construction between Gunduri and Kadam in the district under the PMGSY scheme.
