Cuttack:  Acting on specific intelligence about the presence of a moist camp at the Satokoshia forest in the district, the security personnel carried out a combing operation into the dense forest in a short while ago on Wednesday, informed Odisha DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma.

One platoon each from CRPF and District Voluntary Force (DVF) were engaged in the combing operation, he added saying one more CRPF platoon would join the operation.

It is suspected around 20- 25 Maoists held a camp and were conducting meetings in the Narasinghpur area.

Maoists have a significant presence in some interior districts including Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput , Gajapati,Nuapada, Kanndhamal, Nayagarh etc, but  their move towards to costal area of the state is a great cause of concern for the state government.
