Kamakhyanagar: A middle-aged man was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on NH-149 near Badagunduri village under Samal police limits in Dhenkanal district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Gagan Pradhan of Kamakhyanagar area.
Gagan, who was on a visited to his in-laws’ house in the village for last couple of days rode to Naikanali Square on his bicycle early in the morning when the mishap took place. Driver of a speeding vehicle coming from Kamakhyanagar lost control over the wheels and mowed the victim down on the highway before driving away quickly.
As tension prevailed on the highway following the mishap, Samal Police rushed to the spot and seized the dead body.
An investigation is underway by police to trace the unknown vehicle.
