Phulbani: In a shocking incident, Daringibadi Police arrested a man from Mundudabali village under Kartamaha panchayat here last night for killing his two-year-old baby girl by throwing her onto the ground following a heated argument with his wife.
Police have arrested the accused father who has been identified as Aravind Pradhan.
The incident took place late in the night on Thursday after Aravind indulged in a verbal duel with his wife over some issue. As the heated argument escalated to a fight between the couple, the accused started chasing his wife to attack, compelling her to run out of the home to save life. However, in a fit of rage the accused lifted up his two-year-old baby girl, who was playing at the house at that time, and threw her onto the ground.
The baby, who sustained critical injury in the attack, was first rushed to the Daringbadi CHC on Friday. She was later shifted to Phulbani DHH and succumbed under treatment last night.
“Police arrested the accused following a complaint against him by his family members in connection with the case on Friday. He would be forwarded to court today,” said Tusharkant Mohapatra, IIC, Daringibadi Police Station.
