Nabarangpur:  The family members and relatives of a 32-year- old man, who passed away while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here late last night, staged a protest by keeping his dead body in front of the DHH on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Subash Kachim, a resident of Chikili village under Nabarangpur Tehsil. The protestors alleged that negligence of medical staff took the life of the young man.

According to reports, Subash who was suffering from diarrhoea, was admitted to the DHH at around 8 PM last night. However, his condition deteriorated at around 12 AM.

The anxious family members immediately approached the nurses on duty, who allegedly told the former that they can not do anything, instead suggested to speak to the doctors in this regard.

The helpless family members rushed to the doctors’ chamber but couldn’t find any one. They again requested the nurses for the treatment, but in vain. Subash died at around 3 AM, a family member said.

Today morning, the bereaved family members staged a protest along with the dead body in front of the DHH, alleging that Subash died due to negligence of the doctors and medical staff of the hospital.

The protesters demanded probe into the negligence of concerned medical staff of DHH and adequate compensation.

Speaking to media persons, CDMO Dr Ramesh Panda said, “I will inquire about the matter and take appropriate action in this connection.”
