Man brutally hacked inside moving bus in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: A middle-aged man sustained grievous injuries after he was brutally hacked by an unidentified miscreant inside a moving bus at Brahmanigan Square under Basudevpur block in the district today. The accused faced public wrath after the incident and was brutally beaten up by locals.

The victim has been identified as Prahallad Barik, a resident of Basudevpur village.

Prahallad who boarded Bhadrak bound ‘Bhabani Shankar’ bus from Basudevpur bus stand in the morning suffered the assault in the hands of the fellow traveller identified as Gunaram Ho of Thakuramunda village near Brahmanigan Square. The attacker, who was sitting beside Prahallad in another seat in the bus took out a sharp weapon and started hacking him without any reason. The victim sustained grievous hand injury in the attack and bled profusely inside the bus.

Fellow travellers grabbed Gunaram immediately after the attack and thrashed him brutally. He was roughed up by the public for hours before Basudevpur Police rescued him and took into custody.

Police rushed Prahallad to Basudevpur CHC and he is out of danger now.

While cops are trying to find out why the accused carried out the attack, a youth who was accompanying him in the bus claimed that he is mentally unstable.
