Man arrested with fake notes of Rs 2000 & 500 in Odisha

Bhawanipatna: Kesinga police arrested a man after recovering 40 fake currency notes of Rs 2000 and 500 from his possession at Palam chowk in Kalahandi district on Tuesday.

One Govind Rao went to a shop at Palam chowk this morning and  after buying things, gave a fake Rs 2000 to the shopkeeper. However, the shopkeeper alerted some locals who caught hold of Rao while he was fleeing the spot. They handed him over to the local police which arrived on the spot after getting information.

Police later recovered 39 fake currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 denominations from Rao. Out of 39 notes, 31 were of Rs 2000 and 8 were Rs 500 notes. One mobile phone, dongle, pen drive and bike was seized from his possession.

Cops have taken the accused to the police station for interrogation.
