Rourkela: Busting a looters’ gang in the Steel City, police arrested at least five persons and seized a cache of loot items from their possession on Wednesday.
The arrested looters have been identified as Manoj Pothal, Bijay Prasad, Santosh Kumar Sony, Deepak Kumar Prasad of Bihar and Vijay Rajage of Maharashtra states.
Informing on the arrest to media today, Rourkela DSP Pradyumna Kumar Mishra said the held gang was involved in May 17 loot incident, which took place at Manmohan Kumar Anand’s house located near Bisra Road.
Police also recovered cash worth Rs 3.5 lakh along with gold jewelleries worth lakhs of rupees from the possession of the arrested looters. However, the mastermind of the gang is still at large and efforts are on to nab him, the DSP added.
The held looters have been forwarded to court.
