Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the launch of online ticket sales. He also received the first ticket for the event.
“I am glad to announce the launch of the online ticket sales for the Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2018. I am delighted to have received the first ticket. May the hockey fever of the people of Odisha spread to the world,” the CM said on the occasion.
“We look forward to hosting fans and visitors from all over. We hope all our guests will enjoy world class hockey action and the great treasures that Odisha has to offer. Come enjoy the thrilling matches and soak in the warmth of our hospitality,” he said.
The tickets are available for all Pool, Crossover and Quarter-Final matches only. The organisers have decided to sell two tickets per head for each match.
Tickets for the Semi-Finals and Finals plus an opening ceremony will be released at a later date, according to sources.
The tickets have been reasonably priced at Rs 200 (East Stand), Rs 100 (North Stand) and Rs 100 (South Stand) each for the Pool and Crossover matches, while tickets for the knockout matches are priced at Rs 250 (East Stand), Rs 150 (North Stand) and Rs 150 (South Stand).
There are 16 teams split into four pools — A, B, C and D. While Pool A consists of Argentina, New Zealand, Spain and France; Australia will take on England, Ireland and China in Pool B. The matches will be held among Belgium, India, Canada and South Africa in Pool C. The three-time world champion team Netherlands will play against Germany, Malaysia and Pakistan in Pool D.
