Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar centre issued a lightning alert for 16 districts of the State on Tuesday.
As per the IMD bulletin issued this afternoon, lightning bolts are likely to occur in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Angul, Puri, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur, Rayagada, Nuapada, Khurda, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur. The warning would remain in effect till 4.30pm, it predicted.
As a precautionary measure, the IMD has advised people to stay indoors or other safe places to avoid any untoward incident.
