Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday urged the people to strive to bring the magic of books back into lives and inculcate the habit of reading, especially among the younger generation.

“A book is our best friend, teacher and guide. It empowers us with knowledge, wisdom and inspires us to dream and achieve. This #WorldBookDay, let’s strive to bring the magic of books back into our lives and inculcate the habit of reading, especially among the younger generation,” said Patnaik on his twitter handle.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNSESCO) organises the World Book Day or World Book and Copyright Day (also known as International Day of the Book or World Book Days) every year on April 23 to promote reading, publishing and copyright. The World Book Day was celebrated for the first time on April 23, 1995.
