Athagarh: Normal life came to a halt in the town as the local Bar association observed a 12-hour bandh on Wednesday demanding relocation of the sub-jail from Choudwar to Athagarh.
Government offices, educational institutions, shops and other business establishments remained closed in the town due to the bandh.
Besides, vehicular communication also came to a standstill in and outside the town as the local bus association extended support to the demand of the lawyers.
“The sub-jail of Athagarh was shifted to Choudwar for some repair work two years ago. However, it is yet to be shifted back here though the said repair work has already been completed five months ago,” said a member of the Bar Association.
The lawyers were seen picketing at various places in the town since morning.
