Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Thursday sought a report from the State government within 15 days over the suicide of a minor tribal girl of Kunduli in Koraput district, who was allegedly gangraped by a group of security personnel in October last year.

Acting on a petition filed by social activists Nishikanta Mishra and Akhand, OHRC Chairperson Justice B.K. Mishra issued notice to Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to submit the report about the action taken for safety and security of the victim, counselling and rehabilitation within the said time.

Notably, the class IX student of Mushaguda village under Potangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel, while she was returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) on October 10, 2017, that created a huge public outcry in the state.

The 14-year-old girl ended her life by hanging herself on Monday.
