Bhubaneswar: A three member central team of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), led by former MP and party’s Mahila Morcha national general secretary Saroj Pandey, arrived here little while ago. They will visit Kunduli in Koraput district for an on-the-spot probe into the alleged gangrape and suicide of the minor girl.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Biju Patnaik airport, Pandey said, “The minor girl, who committed suicide, had earlier approached various state government machinery seeking justice but she was harassed”.

“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik , who also holds the Home Ministry, is accountable to provide security to the women in the State,” she added. “The Chief Minister should have referred the Kunduli case to the CBI.”

Other members of the team include Betul MP Jyoti Dhrube and Misrikh MP Anju Bala.

The team was constituted by the BJP national President Amit Shah. It will submit its probe report to Shah, Pandey said.

Earlier, the BJP national President had strongly condemned the incident and alleged that the State Government is trying to sweep the issue under the carpet.

Notably, the class IX class student of Musaguda village under Potangi police limits in Koraput district was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel, while she was returning from the Kunduli Haat (market) on October 10, 2017 that created a huge public outcry in the state.

The Minor girl ended her life by hanging herself at her residence on January 22.
