Kovind arrives in Bhubaneswar on 5-hr trip

Ram Nath Kovind arrives in Bhubaneswar for a five-hour tripBhubaneswar: National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Presidential nominee Ramnath Kovind arrived here on Friday to seek the support of the ruling BJD and BJP for the Presidential election, scheduled to be held on July 17.

Kovind arrived here by a special aircraft along with Union Health Minister JP Nadda.

A host of BJP and BJD leaders welcomed him at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.

Union Minister Jual Oram, BJP Odisha president Basanta Panda, KV Singhdeo and Sajjan Sharma were among the many saffron party leaders who received Kovind while Odisha Finance minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Food & Civil Supplies and Cooperatives Minister Surya Narayana Patro and senior BJD leader Debi Mishra were some of the ruling party leaders who greeted the NDA’s Presidential nominee on his arrival. Soon after landing at the airport, Kovind headed straight towards the State Guest House for refreshment.

He will meet BJD MLAs and MPs from 12 to 1 PM seeking their support for the upcoming Presidential polls. Later, he will have his lunch with Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik at his residence Naveen Nivas at 1.20 PM.

The former Governor of Bihar is slated to pay floral tributes to the Freedom Fighters of the state at 2.40 PM before having a meeting with BJP MLAs of the state at senior leader K V Singhdeo’s house at 2.50 PM.
