KISS wins Energy Globe Award-2017

Tehran: Odisha-based Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) won the prestigious 18th Energy Globe Award. The largest tribal residential institute of the world won the award in the ‘Fire’ category for modernizing preparation of food for students through biogas, steam cooking, solar water heating and rain water collection systems.

Suvendu Panda, the Nodal Officer of KIIT & KISS Green, received the award on behalf of KISS at a special function at the Presidential Palace in Tehran, the capital city of Iran on Monday.

KISS was the only institute selected as a finalist from India across all categories. As many as 2000 projects were submitted from 178 countries.

Statesmen, Policymakers, Bureaucrats and Nobel Laureates from across the world during their visit to KISS had praised the environmental friendly systems which the institute has adopted for the preparation of food for 27000 tribal students.

The Energy Globe Award is considered as the most important award in the field of environment.

“It is a moment of pride for India, Odisha and KISS,” said Dr. Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT & KISS, while expressing his pleasure over the achievement of KISS.
