Jagatsinghpur: Renowned social entrepreneur and founder of KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta was given a grand felicitation by people in his native village Kalarabanka on Sunday.
Dr Samanta, whose brainchild Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) was accorded the status of a deemed university recently, was welcomed by smart village Kalarabanka in a colourful ceremony held under the aegis of the Nilimarani Charitable Trust in the presence of a huge crowd when he reached his village this morning. After offering floral tributes at his mother’s statue, the KIIS founder was greeted with bouquets by members of the Trust and other dignitaries of the village present during the event.
During a public meeting held on the occasion, speakers appreciated Dr Samanta in their speech for his immense contributions to the field of tribal education through KIIS, which happens to be the largest tribal residential educational institution in the world.
Among others, the event was attended by president of Kalarabanka Mahila Samiti Iti Samanta, Kalarabanka High School headmaster Narayan Parija, Kalinga English Medium School principal Ramakrushna Padhi, Bijay Kumar Swain of Raghunathpur Press Club, Niranjan Mishra of Kalarabanka Block Development Committee and Anjan Kumar Samanta of Kalarabanka Village Committee attended the felicitation ceremony.
