Kamala Mills Fire Effect: Safety inspection in Odisha hotels ahead of New Year

Bhubaneswar: Taking serious note of the recent fire mishap at Kamala Mills in Mumbai, which left 14 people dead, Odisha Fire Services swung into action and conducted a safety check in various public places to avert such mishaps during New Year celebrations across the state.

The Fire Services department conducted safety checks in various hotels, clubs, pubs and other public places of six major cities of the state namely Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur.

The fire personnel inspected whether the concerned buildings have adequate fire extinguishers and if they are in working condition or not, entry and exit routes and other measures taken to minimize loss of life and property in case a fire breaks out.

DGP (Fire) BK Sharma informed that the authorities of the hotels, restaurants and clubs of these six cities have been asked to put in place adequate fire safety measures by Dec 31 evening.
