Cuttack: The three-year-old boy, who was rescued by a reporter of Kalinga TV from Daringbadi area of Kandhmal district with around 70 percent burn injuries yesterday, has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

The local administration swung into action after Kalinga TV reported the news repeatedly on Saturday. An ambulance was sent to Budaguda Primary Health Centre which rushed the injured Rasikanta Pradhan- son of Kishore Pradhan of Kadabali village under Daringbadi bock, to the District Headquarters Hospital in Phulbani yesterday. However, he was shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and later to SCB Hospital as his condition was very serious.

The boy had come in contact with fire while sitting around a bonfire to warm himself along with others on December 4. He had sustained burn injuries in most of his body parts but was not provided any medical care as his family could not afford his treatment. When they approached a government ambulance, the staff of the emergency service vehicle denied, saying there was no diesel in the vehicle.

Kalinga TV’s reporter Susanta Sahoo had carried the boy on his bike from the village, admitted him to Budaguda Primary Health Centre.
