Kalampur acid attack accused nabbed from Andhra Pradesh

Bhawanipatna: Cracking the one-week-old acid attack case of Kalampur area in Kalahandi district in which a 22-year-old girl was attacked by her jilted lover, police arrested the accused on Sunday.

The accused identified as Parshuram Majhi of Bankapada village was caught by a team of Jaipatna Police from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Informing on the development, Jaipatna Police said a police team which had rushed to Rangareddy district in Andhra Pradesh yesterday after receipt of a tip-off on the his whereabouts and caught him today morning. Efforts are on to bring the accused to Odisha on a transit remand, they added.

Parshuram who has several other cases pending against him under different police stations, threw acid on the victim after she rejected his love proposal on January 15. The incident took place while the girl was on her way to attend the computer class. She was first rushed to Kalampur CHC with burn injuries on her face and hands and then shifted to Kalahandi DHH and SCB medical subsequently.
