JEE Advanced 2018 underway in Odisha, 6304 students appearing

Bhubaneswar: At least 6,304 students from Odisha are taking the prestigious Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2018 which is being held at four centres set up for the purpose in the state today.

Tight security arrangement have been made at all four test centres which include Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Rourkela which have just completed the first shift at around 12 noon.

The examination is being held in two shifts this year and happens to be computer-based in nature. While the sitting for the Paper I was held from 9 AM to 12 noon the test for Paper-II will start from 2 PM and continue till 5 PM.

Convened by IIT Kanpur the JEE Advanced would select students for admissions into 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It forms the basis for their selection for Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs.

From across the country over two lakhs students have been shortlisted to appear for the JEE Advance this year after the registration process which began on May 2 through the official JEE website, www.jeeadv.ac.in.

The results for the test would be declared on June 10 at 10 AM.

As per the provision, all successful candidates would get their category-wise All India Ranks (AIR) through the online portal after the declaration of the result. Text messages will also be sent to the students on their registered mobile numbers.
