New Delhi: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Jena today informed that Kandhamal’s separated conjoined twins Jaga-Balia will be discharged from AIIMS, New Delhi, in the second week of March.

While speaking to Kalinga TV, Jena said, “We are considering to shift Jaga and Balia to Odisha from New Delhi. A five-member team of doctors from the state will visit AIIMS in New Delhi to review the health condition of the twins so that we will be able to take care of them after they return to the state possibly on the second week of March.”

Notably, after sources in AIIMS said that the minors are recovering quickly and they can be shifted to Bhubaneswar AIIMS or they can be kept under supervision of doctors at SCB Medical in Cuttack, their parents – Pushpanjali Kanhara and Bhuiya Kanhara had expressed concern. They wanted to stay in Delhi for few more months till their children were declared completely out of danger.

The twins, who were conjoined at their heads and were later separated after two phases of surgeries, are undergoing treatment in Delhi hospital. The first phase operation was conducted on August 28, 2017 while the second phase surgery was conducted on October 25.
