ITER fake placement scam: Mastermind Manas Ranjan Nayak arrested
Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police arrested Manas Ranjan Nayak, the main accused in the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) fake placement scam, from Puri on Friday.
According to Twin City Commissioner Y.B Khurania, Nayak, a native of Balia village under Salepur police limits, was arrested for coordinating the whole fake placement process through his own agency.
Police have started interrogating Nayak, who has done his M.Sc from Berhampur University.
Around 450 students of the college staged a dharna in front of the institute, functioning under Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University, after at least 50 students of the college alleged that they got fake job letters for recruitment in many leading companies during the campus placement drive this year.
Khandagiri police had earlier arrested ITER Dean (Placement) Rajkishore Hota for his alleged involvement in the recruitment scam.
