IRCTC Hotels Scam: Lalu Yadav appears before CBI

Lalu YadavNew Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo and former Railway Minister Lalu Yadav on Thursday appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at its headquarters here for questioning in connection with Railway hotel tender case.

Lalu Yadav has been charged with facilitating as the country’s Railways Minister in 2006,= a contract to a private company to run hotels in exchange for a premium plot of land in Patna as bribe.

In July, the central investigative agency had registered a corruption case against Lalu, his wife Rabri and son Tejashwi after raiding 12 properties in Delhi, Gurgaon, Patna, Ranchi and Puri in this connection.

The RJD leader had defied three summons in the past and had asked for more time, but was forced to comply with the fourth request. Tejashwi will be questioned tomorrow, sources said.
