India beat Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs

Bengaluru: India defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs in the latter’s maiden Test match here on Friday. For India, it was the first Test to win in just two days.

In the one-off Test, India dominated the visiting side all sessions of two days. Afghanistan’s batting line-up crumbled twice today while as many 24 wickets fell on the second day. R Ashwin and A Jadeja scalped four wickets each on first and second innins respectively.

On Thursday, Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first. Both the openers S Dhawan (107) and M Vijay (105) made century each ,  while KL Rahul (54) and H Pandya (71) scored half century helping India to post 474 in their first innings.

However, the debutant team suffered in batting and bowled out twice today. For India, both fast bowlers and spinners displayed a discipline attack and took wickets in regular interval.

S Dhawan received Man of the Match award.
