Balasore: A saw mill operating illegally in Gopalgaon village near Chidiapol area in the district was raided and timbers and wood cutting instruments worth lakhs were seized by Vigilance officials on Tuesday.
A joint team of anti-corruption bureau, forest and police officials took part in the raid which was conducted at the Balasore Show Room, the illegal saw mill in the morning and sealed it.
“Timbers, logs and wood cutting machinery worth over Rs 10 lakh have been seized during the raid which was conducted following an order for the same by Balasore Vigilance SP. However the owner of the mill managed to give police a slip and efforts are on to nab him,” said M Kujur, Vigilance DSP, Balasore.
