IAF marks 85th Air Force Day with stellar show in skies

Ghaziabad: The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 85th anniversary at Hindon Air Force base in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district on Sunday with a series of stellar air displays.

Scintillating air show by various aircrafts, including IAF’s popular Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), and impressive parade as well as investiture ceremony stole the show. The flypast included the vintage aircraft, along with modern transport aircraft and fighter aircraft.

The IAF fleet flew low in areas surrounding Karwalnagar, Wazirpur bridge, Shamli, Afjalpur – Hindan, Jiwana, Hapur – Philkua and Chandinagar- Hindan.

The air display commenced at 8 AM with flag bearing skydivers of famous AKASH GANGA Team dropping out of an AN-32 aircraft in their colourful canopies and concluded at 10.51 AM with a scintillating aerobatic display.

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the Indian Air Force on its 85th Anniversary.

In a tweet, the President said he salutes the valour, commitment and dedication of the brave air warriors of India.

Prime Minister extended his greetings to the Air Force and sent his best wishes to the air warriors and their families on the occasion.

The PM took to Twitter and wrote: “On Air Force Day, best wishes to our courageous air warriors and their families. Their determination and prowess ensure that our skies are safe.”

Established on 8th October 1932, Indian Air force has proved its might impressively on all occasions. It has shouldered its responsibilities not only during war, but in peace time as well.
