Puri: The Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has made elaborate arrangement for the smooth conduct of the ‘Bahuda Yatra’ – the homecoming of the Holy Trinity from Gundicha Temple to Srimandir on their respective chariots today.
As per the schedule, the Senapata ritual which has already began will be performed till 11 AM while the Bahuda Pahandi will be held between 12 PM and 2.30 PM. Later, Puri Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb will perform the Chhera Panhara rituals from 2.30 PM till 3.30 PM followed by loosening of Charamala.
After the loosening of Charamala, devotees will pull the chariots for the return journey at 4 PM. The chariots will be pulled on Bada Danda up to the Lion’s gate (Singhadwara) in front of the 12th century shrine where they would be stationed till July 25.
Meanwhile, lakhs of devotees have already started gathering in the Pilgrim City braving rain to witness the ‘Bahuda Yatra’.
Security has also been beefed-up to prevent any untoward incident during the day and to have smooth celebrations of the annual grand festival.
