HC notice to Odisha Govt in Bomikhal flyover collapse case

High CourtCuttack: The Orissa High Court served a notice to the state government on Thursday to record its statement in the Bomikhal flyover collapse case of September 10, which killed one and left around 20 injured.

Hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by the Nationalist Lawyers’ Forum convenor Sabyasachi Mohapatra demanding a CBI enquiry into the bridge collapse, a HC bench comprising of Chief Justice Vineet Saran and Justice BR Sarangi directed state Chief Secretary, Works Secretary, Chief Engineer (Design & Road), Executive Engineer (Roads and Building), and Panda Infra to record their statements before it in the next hearing of the case.

Four persons have been arrested by the Commissionerate Police in the flyover collapse case so far. While Bansidhar Praharaj, deputy executive engineer in works department, and Pratap Panda, director of Panda Infra Projects, were taken into custody a day after the incident on Septmeber 11, assistant engineer in the works department, Kishore Rout and Panda Infra’s Project Manager Vipul Chakraborty were arrested on Septmber 12.
