Cuttack: In partial relief for controversial self-styled Godman Sarathi Baba aka Santosh Raul, the Orissa High Court granted him bail on Friday under strict conditions.
Notwithstanding the bail granted today, however, Sarathi cannot be released from jail for the time being as two more cases against him are sub judice.
While granting bail to Sarathi Baba today, the High Court debarred him from visiting Barimul village in Kendrapara where he was running an Ashram before getting nailed by a private news channel for unlawful acts. The court also asked the godman not to enter Kendrapara district without the persmission of the court. It also prevented Sarathi from taking out any procession by his followers and was directed to cooperate with the investigating agencies whenever and wherever needed. In addition, he was told to keep in touch with the investigating officers and share his address with them on a regular basis.
Notably, the High Court had rejected Sarathi’s bail plea on an earlier occasion in the blackmailing and sexual exploitation case filed against him by a woman medico in January this year. The Godman was caught on camera with the medical student while on a visit to Hyderabad in 2015.
