Harichandan meets Rahul, inform about Komna Zone II Zilla Parishad results New Delhi: Odisha PCC President Prasad Harichandan met Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi at the Congress war room here on Saturday and apprised him of the results of the Komna Zone II ZP election in Nuapada district held recently.

Harichandan told Rahul that people are with him despite the intra-party fighting as is evident from the fact that the party got second position in the Komna Zone II ZP election, the result of which was declared on Thursday.

The PCC President, who is being constantly targeted by his party leaders in the state, claimed that it is a good sign for the party.

BJD candidate Ramnaresh Ahir won the seat by a margin of 7759 votes against his closest contender from the Congress party. While Ahir got 14,790 votes, Congress candidate Bhaktaram Sabar received 7031 votes. With 4483 votes in her favour, BJP candidate Phuleswar Bhoi was at the third place in the vote count.

Apart from the Komna ZP election, Harichandan also raised the issue of the quashing of SEBC Act by the Orissa High Court. Both the leaders are said to have agreed to push for a new Act in this regard.

The Odisha Congress head met Gandhi in the presence of other senior leaders like Srikant Jena, Sarat Rout, Kahnu Lenka and Rama Chandra Khuntia.

Sources said that Rahul is also meeting the OBC leaders of five different states.
