New Delhi: It is indeed a good news for Jaga-Balia’s well-wishers that Jaga, one of the Kandhamal twins was on Wednesday taken off ventilator support for the first time after their operation at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Wednesday.

Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena and Chief of Neurosciences Centre, AIIMS, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra informed the development little while ago while speaking to media persons.

“I am extremely happy to inform you that Jaga has been taken off ventilator support and is breathing normally. Besides, he is responding well to his mother. He will be shifted to general ward within three days,” informed Jena after he came from the ICU.

“Though Balia is still in the ICU, he is stable. The doctors have kept a close vigil on him. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has assured to provide all kinds of support including financial assistance if required for their treatment. We are hopeful that the twins will get well soon and return to Odisha,” the Minister added.

Dr. Mahapatra said “Balia was weaker than Jaga. He still continues to be in a state of unconsciousness as he has been given drugs. However, he is responding to the treatment even being unconsciousness and we hope his condition will improve.”

Expressing her profound gratitude to the state government and doctors’ team, the twin’s mother Pushpanjali Kanhara said, “I got my children back only because of the help of Odisha government and blessings of people from my state and outside. Jaga-Balia got a new life only because of the untiring labour of the doctors here especially Mahapatra sir, Dipak sir, Girija sir and Pandya sir. I thank all of them and Lord Jagannath for his blessings on my children.”
