Gold, foreign currency seized at Bhubaneswar Airport, 4 held

Bhubaneswar: Acting on specific intelligence, the Air Intelligence unit of Customs along with revenue officials seized foreign currency and gold ornaments worth Rs 22 lakh from Biju Patnaik International Airport here on Sunday.

According to reports, four passengers hailing from Delhi, Kolkata and Cuttack arrived from Bangkok in an Air India flight (AI339) here. Based on intelligence input, the customs and revenue officials intercepted them and recovered cosmetics, foreign currency and assorted items of gold of foreign origin from their possession during search.

Meanwhile an investigation into the matter has been initiated.
