Berhampur: In yet another incident of gang rape in the state, a group of miscreants outraged the modesty of a college girl before the eyes of her fiancé at Khyatriyabarpur village under Gangapur police limits in the district on Monday.
The incident took place while the victim was on her way back from the Budhakendu temple along with her fiancé on a motorcycle.
At least six bike-borne miscreants chased the motorcycle and intercepted it a few meters away from the temple. Later, they brutally beat the fiancé of the girl and forcibly sexually assaulted her taking inside a nearby forest.
“We were returning from the Budhakendu temple after performing darshan at around 3.30pm when six bike-borne miscreants intercepted us a few meters away from the temple. They thrashed me brutally and snatched away 3 mobile phones from us along with cash worth Rs 1,000. Later on they took my fiancée into a nearby forest and raped her. As if it was not enough they also filmed the whole incident on their mobile phones,” said the fiancé of the victim girl.
Gangapur Police swung into action and arrested six persons on suspicion of their involvement in the case from the Khyatriyabarpur village after the victim girl and her fiancé lodged a written complaint with them.
