Jeypore: Launching a crackdown on illegal drug trade in Koraput district on Thursday, police arrested three persons after conducting a raid at Pujariput Square near Borigumma area and seized huge cache of ganja from their possession.
The raid was conducted after a team of Borigumma Police which came across a numberless Maruti Suzuki Swift Dezire car during patrolling in the wee hours today. The team immediately chased the vehicle and intercepted it near Pujariput Square for search.
“During the search of the vehicle in the presence of a magistrate later, police found at least three sacks carrying around 101 kg of ganja consignment and seized those. During the interrogation of the held trio police identified one wanted criminal Ajay Ganda among them. He is involved in a number of cases pending against him at Jeypor Sadar and Jyepore Town police limits,” said Sagarika Nath, IIC, Borigumma Police Staion.
“The other two are Paresh Decca from Assam who happens to be the bodyguard of Ajay and Pradhani of Samalkot area of Koraput district,” she added.
The ganja seized during the raid would worth over Rs 15 lakh, said police.
