Ganeshi Lal sworn in as Governor of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Prof. Ganeshi Lal was on Tuesday sworn in as the 45th Governor of Odisha. He was administered the oath of office by the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Justice Vineet Saran here at a special function in Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Ministers and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

Earlier on the day, Lal visited Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri and offered puja.

Lal,a former Haryana BJP Chief, was appointed as the new Governor of Odisha by the President Ram Nath Kovind on May 25.

The post of Governor in Odisha had fallen vacant in March this year after veteran Nagaland leader Dr S C Jamir completed his statutory tenure.

However, Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik had been given additional charge of Odisha since March 21.
