Bhubaneswar: Giving a smart response to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s letter over the delay of the construction of second bridge across the Brahmani river near Rourkela in Sundergarh district, Union Transport & Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari has held the Odisha government responsible for the delay of the project saying the State government is delaying the forest clearance and land acquisition process for the project.

“I was surprised and pained to receive your letter and media reports suggesting the delay on part of NHAI. I may like to clarify that all these projects are delayed for want of forest clearances and land issues,” replied the Union Minister to the Odisha CM, who had written the letter yesterday.

Nitin has also assured to begin the construction work of the bridge within seven days after getting the forest clearance and land acquisition.

In his letter to Gadkari, Patnaik had urged for the immediate construction of the second bridge on National Highway-143 near Panposh or allow the State government to do it on its own sources.

Coming down heavily on the Odisha unit of BJP for creating ruckus in the state Assembly over the Gangadhar Meher lift canal system in Bargarh district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also advised the saffron party not to shed crocodile tears, rather appeal the Union government to build the second bridge over Brahmani river at the earliest.
