Former Loisingha Tehsildar gets 2-year jail term in graft case

Balangir: The Special Vigilance Court, Balangir on Friday sentenced former Loisingha Tehsildar Bijayani Biswal to two years rigorous imprisonment in a graft case. The court also slapped a fine of Rs.2,000 on her.

The Vigilance department had booked Biswal under charges of corruption in 2013. According to the prosecution, the accused had taken a bribe of Rs.4,000 in a pretext to resolve a water sharing dispute among the locals in Loisingha area.

At present, the women officer is serving as Sub Collector of Kendrapara district in Odisha.
