Flyover collapse: Odisha CM announces Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for dead

bridge collapseBhubaneswar: Taking prompt action in the Bomikhal flyover bridge collapse which killed one person and left several injured here today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a high-level probe into the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased.

Taking to Twitter, the CM also announced free medical treatment for those who sustained injuries in the incident.

Deputy Executive Engineer Bansidhar Prahraj and Assistant Engineer Kishore Rout of State Works Department have been suspended for dereliction of duty.

Notably, around 12 victims of the bridge collapse have been rushed to the Capital Hospital so far following the bridge collapse out of whom one trader from Jharpada area Satyabrata Patnaik was declared brought dead. Among the rest 11, 5 have been shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar after their condition deteriorated.

ODRAF, fire brigade teams along with the dog squad of Odisha Police have been pressed into action at the accident site to rescue some others who are feared to be trapped inside the debris.
