Firing at BJP leader’s house in Bargarh, 1 killed

Bargarh: A youth was killed after some unidentified miscreants fired gunshots at the residence of Dr. Sunil Acharya , father of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Irasis Acharya, at Kusunpuri village under Bhatli Police limits in Bargarh district of Odisha  late on Friday night.

The victim has been identified as Bulu Satnami, a resident of Sohela village in the district. He had been staying at the residence of Dr Acharya. He suffered the bullet injury in his head during the firing.

Bulu was immediately rushed to the Bhatli hospital and later shifted to Bargarh district headquarter hospital. As his condition was deteriorated further, he was shifted to Burla based VIMSAR hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, Bhatli police seized a pistol and an empty cartridge from the spot. They also detained three persons in this connection. “Investigation is going on. The attack might be a political link”, said a police official.

On March 31, Irasis, a State secretary of Bharatiya Yuva Morcha (BYJM), was attacked by some miscreants with lathis and iron rods injuring his head and other body parts.

On that fateful day, Irasis accompanied by State BJP secretary Ranjan Patel had gone to meet former Sambalpur MLA and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra lodged in Sohela sub-jail for his alleged involvement in Banabira firing case.
