Bhubaneswar: As was being expected the former Bhawanipatna MLA Dushmant Naik today joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) along with his supporters within 48 hours of quitting the grand old party Congress on Wednesday.
Naik who reached the BJD headquarters along with over 2,000 supporters was formally inducted into the party fold in the presence of supremo Naveen Patnaik following a grand welcome.
In his reaction to media soon after joining the conch party, the former MLA said he believes that his step would accelerate the developmental process back in his constituency.
On the other hand Naveen said the former Bhawanipatna MLA joining would further strengthen his party which continues to work for the benefit of the people.
Notably, Naik had submitted his resignation to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Niranjan Patnaik on Wednesday citing the reason as ‘personal’ therein. Earlier, he had alleged continuous neglect and humiliation in the hands of some top party leaders.
