EOW Arrests Two Rice Mill Owners

Odisha's EOW Arrests 2 Rice Mill Owners Cuttack: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday arrested two rice mill owners for misappropriation of government rice worth over Rs 4 crores.

The accused have been identified as Dilip Agrawal of Sabitri Industries at Badchana and Pankaj Agrawal of Ganapati Industries in Bhadrak.

Special Director General of Police (CID, Crime Branch) BK Sharma informed about the arrest of the accused through a series of tweets.

According to Sharma, Dilip is accused of non-delivery of rice worth nearly Rs. 3 crores after taking paddy from Agricultural Co-operative Societies while Pankaj is accused of not delivering rice worth Rs 1.22 crores.

EOW arrested the duo based on two separate FIRs filed by Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC), the government entity that had given the paddy to the accused to be made into rice and returned.

Sharma said that the accused shall be produced before the Court in due course.

The EOW had formed two teams to investigate the matter.
