England beat India in 3rd ODI, clinch series

Leeds: England clinched the three match series defeating India in the third and final ODI by 8 wickets here last night. This is also India’s first series loss under skipper Virat Kohli.

England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and elected to bowl first in the series-deciding match. The hosts overhauled the target of 257 runs in 44.3 overs, losing only two wickets.

Joe Root (100*), who had scored a match-winning century in the second ODI, completed his 13th ODI ton, while skipper Eoin Morgan (88*) smashed an unbeaten half-century as the duo shared a 186-run unconquered third wicket stand to script a successful run chase.

Earlier, Virat Kohli scored 71 runs off 72 balls and MS Dhoni made 42 off 66 balls as India managed 256/8 in the stipulated overs. Other batsmen got a good start but failed to convert into big score.

Adil Rashid received Player of the match award while Joe Root was adjudged as Player of the series.

The five match test series between India and England will begin from 1st of next month at Birmingham.
