Bhanjanagar: An elderly man and his wife committed suicide being abandoned by their five sons at Gandisola village under Bhanjanagar police limits in Ganjam district on Wednesday night. The deceased have been identified as Laxman Dalei (80) and his wife Hema Dalei (70).
Their bodies were recovered from a locked room this morning by Bhanjanagar police, who rushed to the spot after getting information from some villagers.
Sources said that five sons of the couple used to look after them on shared basis. However, their behaviour towards them worsened day after day. They even neglected to provide them enough food which compelled Laxman and Hema to take the extreme step.
Police have started an investigation into the matter after registering a case of unnatural death.
