‘Education for All’: Over 75,000 people participate in KIIT-KISS Mini Marathon

Bhubneswar: Over 75,000 people from different walks of life participated in the ‘Education for All’ Mini Marathon-2018 held across the state by Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT).

In the State Capital Bhubaneswar, the Marathon was held from Sandy’s Tower to KIIT Stadium. Lok Sabha MP, Dr Prasanna Patasani, Rajya Sabha MP and eminent Odia cine star Anubhav Mohanty, North Bhubaneswar MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, Cine star Sabyasachi Mishra, sprinter Dutee Chand and Anuradha Biswal, international footballer Shradhanjali Samantray, international Kabadi player Rashmita Sahu and KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta flagged off the run.

While this is the third edition of the mini marathon being organised in various towns in all 30 districts of the state along with five major cities by KIIT and KISS with an objective to spread awareness on the importance of education in life, at least 10,000 people participated in this year’s marathon in Bhubaneswar. The participants include students of various educational institutions in the city, students and staff of KIIT and KISS, students of SAI and state sports hostel and common people.

“Education solves and ends all problems and sufferings in the everyday life and this is our objective behind organizing this mini marathon also. The run is being held in 30 towns across the districts of the state along with 5 major cities including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Rourkela since 2016 to make people understand the value of education,” said Dr Samanta soon after taking part in the run.

Laying emphasising on the role of education in poverty eradication on this occasion, Odia Cine Star Anubhav Mohanty maintained that this target can be achieved only through education.

“It is our duty to make at least one people educate in our lives and this makes a big difference. The Mini-Marathon with the theme ‘Education For All’ is a giant leap towards this goal,” said Anubhav.

At the closing of the Mini Marathon all the guests opined that education plays a vital role in inclusive development of a nation, state and person and hence everybody should create awareness for education for all. Certificates were also presented to all the participants of mini marathon on this occasion.
