Govt is aware of VIMSAR row, District Admn has been asked to solve: Health Min Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena on Monday said the state government is aware of the ongoing impasse at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla of Sambalpur district.

Claiming that the face-off between VIMSAR Director Aswini Kumar Pujahari and PG students of the institute is being closely observed and three cases have been filed in this regard, Pratap informed that the district collector had been asked to conduct an investigation and solve the problem as soon as possible.

“We are aware and of the problem and are watching it. The state government is gearing up to take steps to solve the issue. As of now, three FIRs have been lodged with the police pertaining to the incident. Investigation is on to find out who and under what circumstances created such a problem,” said the Minister while speaking to the reporters this morning.

Jena also said, “The district collector has been asked to take necessary steps to solve the problem soon. Besides, officials of the Health Department have also been entrusted with resolving the issue by mutual understanding. The state government will also take precautionary measures so that the patients don’t suffer.”

While the PG students of the institute have launched an indefinite cease-work agitation demanding removal of VIMSAR Director Pujahari, residents of Burla, supporting Pujahari, have also called a 12-hour bandh in the town today over the ongoing stand-off between the two sides.
