Bhubaneswar: A day after Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that he will be contesting the 2019 elections from Odisha, BJD came up with a strong affirmation that the Union Minister’s contesting in the upcoming election will not have any impact in Odisha politics.
The state ruling party reminded Pradhan saying he should not forget that he was defeated in 2004 and 2009 elections. Besides, the Panchayat election result of his district also proves that his decision to contest election from Odisha will not have any impact here.
“Dharmendra Pradhan had contested election in 2004 and 2009 unsuccessfully. Why did he not contest the 2014 election? Now he is saying he would contest the 2019 election from Odisha. He is a politician and whether to contest or not it is either his or his party’s decision. But, he should not forget the result of the last Panchayat election of his own district,” said BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra while addressing the reporters today.
“It may be his own decision to contest from Odisha in 2019 general election, but it will not have any impact in Odisha,” Patra added.
