Pratap Deb takes oath as Rajya Sabha MPBhubaneswar: The political game over violence by followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda sect at Panchkula in Haryana and other places yesterday, began on Saturday with BJD holding the BJP-led Haryana government responsible for the collapse of the law and order situation in the state after a special CBI court convicted Dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty in a rape case.

BJD spokesperson Pratap Deb alleged that Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is fully responsible for the violence and must step down as CM of Haryana on moral grounds.

Deb also claimed that most Union Ministers also had close connection with Ram Rahim.

Reacting to Deb’s statement, BJP State General Secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said the Dera violence should not be politicized. The Haryana government took measures to check the violence. Besides, it has ordered to find out whether the standard operating procedure (SOP) was followed in the case or not.

On the other hand, the Punjab & Haryana High Court also slammed the Khattar government saying “You let Panchkula burn for political motives.”

More than 30 people were killed while over 250 others were injured in the violence started by the Dera followers, who also torched hundreds of vehicles including media vehicles. The violence later spread to Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan.

The intensity of the violence was such that the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday ordered to attach the properties of the controversial godman in the wake of the violence.
