BologarhBologarh: Normal life was crippled in Bologarh and Begunia blocks of Khurda district today, following a 12-hour bandh call given by Bologarh Traders’ Association, protesting the deteriorating healthcare facility in the Bologarh Community Health Centre (CHC).

Bandh supporters staged a road blockade at Gopabandhu Square and on NH 57 over a 10 point charter of demand, bringing the vehicular movement in the area to a grinding halt.

The demands of the association includes appointment of a regular doctor, modernization of the pathological lab and operation theaters along with inclusion of hi-tech medical equipment and medicine store in the CHC.

“While more than 80,000 people from both the blocks are depending on this CHC, the government is yet to show any commitment for its development and modernisation. We are on a protest since October 30 and today resorted to a dawn to dusk bandh. Our fight would continue till government fulfills all the demands,” said Arup Kumar Parida, Secretary Bologarh Traders’ Association.
