Daringbadi sees snowfall as temperature drops to 3 degrees C

Phulbani: Daringbadi in Kandhamal district, which is known as Odisha’s Kashmir, witnessed snowfall with temperature dropping to 3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday night. The temperature reportedly reduced by 5 degrees Celsius in the town.

The cold wave swept entire state with minimum temperature in most parts decreasing by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius yesterday. According to the regional Meteorological department, ten places recorded below 10 degrees Celsius yesterday.

While Phulbani recorded 3.5 degrees Celsius, Hirakud 8.1 degrees Celsius, Bhawaniptana, Sambalpur, Sundergarh 8.5 degrees Celsius, Balangir, Jharsuguda 8.8 degrees Celsius, Angul 9 degrees Celsius and Koraput 9.6 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Bhubaneswar was 11.8 degrees Celsius, Sonepur 10.2 degrees Celsius, Keonjhar 10.3 degrees Celsius, Cuttack and Balasore 11 degrees Celsius, Titilagarh and Chandbali recorded 12 degrees Celsius.

Bhubaneswar MeT Director Sarat Chandra Sahoo informed that the cold wave is intensifying in the state because of the wind blowing from north-east direction with speed of 25-30 kmph. However, the temperature is likely to rise from today, he added.
